Operational Programme Environment 2007 - 2013 sets the country strategic objectives and priorities in environment sector which will be financed by the European funds. It is directed to implementation of the commitments taken in the negotiation process in the sector and achievement of compliance with EU requirements in the field of environment. The two funds providing financing in the field of environment:

European Regional Development Fund (ЕRDF) - aimed at strengthening the economic and social cohesion in the EU, recovering the disturbed balance between the regions and

Cohesion Fund (CF) - aimed at helping less developed member states to overcome the economic and social situation and stabilize their economy.

OP Environment sets the objectives, priorities and types of activities to be financed, following the national policy in environmental protection as well as EU policy and legislation.
