The initiative was held under the patronage by the Minister of Management of EU Funds Tomislav Donchev. The Bulgarian Economic Forum organized the event in cooperation with the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria and the Sofia Municipality.

At the stand of OP “Environment 2007- 2013” was presented information about OPE, also videos and presentation devoted to the progress and best practices of the program were shown. The general public reviewed brochures and other informational materials from beneficiaries for the implementation of their projects. The event was accompanied by interesting and entertaining events and many surprises for the audience, especially the youngest.

Each visitor was able to look informational materials of the different European programs and meet with current and upcoming opportunities to apply for financing from EU Funds. Contacts between institutions, operational programmes, beneficiaries, potential beneficiaries, businesses, citizens and others were encouraged.

Within the event a discussion forum on subject “Lessons learned from the current programming period” took place. The discussion was attended by Minister Timoslav Donchev, Minister Ivailo Moskovski, Deputy Minister Ivelina Vasileva, representatives of the managing authorities of other programs. In her speech Ms. Vasileva gave as an example for a specific lesson about the willingness of the administration and the beneficiaries for the submission and implementations of projects. Ms. Vasileva determined the period up to 2009 as a false start, lack of quality projects, lack of awareness and lack of good preparation. Regarding the second stage of the current programming period, Ms. Vasileva noted that we have applied what we have learned, namely that we all are in the same boat and we must work together. She added that the projects are large and serious and it is a key period for implementation of the OPE.
