Ministry of Environment and water awarded the winners from the campaign “Green Bulgaria” financed by the Operational programme “Environment 2007 – 2013”.

In the category for big business minister Nona Karadzhova gave the award to “Asarel – Medet” for the projects for forestation and elimination of unregulated landfills. The second place was for “Globul” with their project “Globul Green” and third prize was awarded to “Elatsite Med” for their reforestation program.

The Deputy Prime minister and Minister of finance Simeon Dyankov awarded the winner in the category in medium business. ”Aroma” JSC was awarded first place for their initiative “Forest Aroma” in Nature park “Bulgarka”. Second prize was awarded to “Vest TV8VTV” JSC for realized original projects such as “Eco News”, “Eco arena” series and “Green line”. Minister Dyankov gave third prize to “Multiprint” Ltd. for their introduction of a system of tracking the wood used, that ensures conservation of forest species.

First place in the category of a small business was awarded to “Roel-98” Ltd. for supporting the activities of WWF for protection and restoration of forests in 10 Bulgarian national parks, which are part of “Nature 2000”. The award was presented by the Minister of Economy and Energy – Delyan Dobrev. Second place in this category Mr. Dobrev gave to “Piazza Italia” Ltd. for conducting and organizing campaigns, forums and events focused on topics related environmental protection in order to create a motivated “Green team” in companies.

On the ceremony a special award was given to the University Hospital “St. George” for the creation of park spaces. Winners were defined by an independent commission in, which were invited celebrities with a strong presence in the community.

“Green Bulgaria” was launched last month and in its first green business category over 30 companies participated. The campaign will continue until the end of the year in two categories: the most active municipality in the Operational Programme “Environment” and the greenest city.
