77.4 MBGN FOR BUILDING NEW TREATMET PLANT IN SOZOPOL

77.4 MBGN is the amount that Operational Programme "Environment 2007-2013" grants for construction of new sewage treatment plant in Sozopol Municipality. This happened after the Minister of Environment and Water Nona Karadzhova and Mayor Sozopol Panayot Reyzi signed a contract for funding.

Under the project is to be constructed a wastewater treatment plant, deep discharge and the inclusion of newly constructed WWTP collectors of old and new town of Sozopol and Chernomorets. Collectors will be built, channel-pumping stations and sewage in the district "Misarya" and "Provlaka" of Sozopol and Chernomorets. Along with these activities will be replaced the water supply network, which will ensure constant supply to the population, will reduce water losses in water supply network and will increase the proportion of households connected to it.

During the signing of the contract Minister Karadzhova pointed out that once again state and municipality showed its commitment to the final settlement of a long-standing problem as to Sozopol and the region. «700 million are allocated to the Black Sea municipalities to build infrastructure for wastewater treatment. By removing nitrogen and phosphorus and the application of deep discharge will stop pollution of the Black Sea, thereby maintaining the ecological balance of marine flora and fauna, "the minister added.
