REDUCED GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS AND ENERGY SAVING WILL BE THE FUNDAMENTAL CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION OF “THE GREENEST CITY”

Reduced greenhouse gas emissions and energy saved as a result of implemented energy efficient measures of municipalities will be the major criteria for nomination in the category of “The greenest city”, the final stage of national campaign “Green Bulgaria”, funded by the Operational Programme “Environment 2007 – 2013”.

In order to be complied with the requirements of fairness and objectivity, the Ministry of Environment and Water made a research of completed municipal projects, financed by the Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund (KIDSF), National Trust Eco Fund and Ministry of Development and Public Works. After reviewing the collected information will be determine the winner.

If any municipality has prepared and implemented a project with its own funds, - that meets the basic criteria – reduced greenhouse gas emissions and energy savings as a result of implemented energy efficient measures, it can apply for classification in the category “The greenest city”, by sending information till December 10th 2012 at ope@moew.government.bg.

Ministry of environment and Water is organizing the National campaign “Green Bulgaria” for second year. Winners in the category “The greenest city” will be awarded on a joint ceremony with Darik Radio, on December 12th, 2012 at 12:12pm at the Earth and Man National Museum.
