The construction of the transfer station – Karnobat had begun. The facility is the second component of the regional system for waste management in Burgas region. Burgas Municipality, together with another eight municipalities from the region, support the project “Construction of a regional system for waste management in the Burgas region”, which is funded by Operational Programme “Environment 2007-2013”, totalling the amount of  MBGN 43.

“During the last year we started working on the site of the regional depot, which is near to the already existing depot Bratovo and today starts the construction of one of the two waste stations, which are planned as part of the regional system. The waste station in Karnobat has to serve the Municipalities of Karnobat and Sungurlare, which are far away from the regional depot site and therefore an advanced waste compression system is needed, before the waste is transported to the regional depot. Furthermore, facility for recycling big building waste will be installed on the site of the waste station. At another stage of this project we are thinking of building a compost installation for recycling organic waste”, said the deputy-mayor of Burgas, Atanaska Nikolova.

The value of the waste station in Karnobat is MBGN 4. The whole project will come to an end in June 2015, and the construction work at the waste station Karnobat should be done in the middle of 2014. The second waste station will be serving the Municipalities of Pomorie and Nessebar and will be in the territory of Nessabar.
