THE CONSTRUCTION OF WASTE TRANSFER STATION IN NESSEBAR HAS BEGUN

In the village of Ravda was given start on the construction activities on the transfer station for waste – Nessebar. The transfer station is part of the project “Establishment of a regional system for waste management in the region of Burgas”. The project is funded by Operational programme “Environment 2007 -2013” and it is totaling MBGN 43, 2.

Through the construction of a waste transfer station is aimed at optimizing long-distance transport by highly efficient vehicles for transferring waste over long distances. The station is located in Ravda’s village Merata with the basic area of 12 acres. Construction of waste transfer station (WTS) in Nessebar, facility will include compaction and load for transport to regional landfill with load and transport capacity 1000 – 2500 tons per month, depending on the season. The project objective for construction of regional system for waste management in the region of Burgas in to build the necessary infrastructure  for environmentally sound disposal on all urban waste, generated within the Burgas region, including the municipalities of Burgas, Sredets, Kameno, Nessebar, Pomorie, Aytos, Ruen, Karnobat and Sungurlare. The project includes design and construction of the first cell of the regional landfill in Bratovo village - West with a volume 450 000 cubic meters and landfill capacity 400,000 tons of waste, reimbursement of (recyclable) materials with the capacity of 10 000 tons per year; composting facility with a capacity of 5,000 tons per year; treatment facility construction waste and bulky waste with a capacity of 50,000 tons per year; for construction waste and 15,000 tons per year for bulky waste; warehouse for temporary storage of hazardous and particular waste; construction of two waste transfer stations – Nessebar and Karnobat and incoming infrastructure to them. Regional system for waste management will serve 210 settlements, inhabited by 400 000 people.

Beneficiary of the project is Burgas Municipality in partnership with municipalities Sredets, Kameno, Nessebar, Pomorie, Aytos, Ruen, Karnobat and Sungurlare.
