THE SEWARAGE SYSTEM OF LEVSKI AND KALKAS DISTRICTS OPENED IN PERNIK

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Minister of Environment and Water Nona Karadzhova and the Mayor of Pernik Rositsa Yanakieva opened officially the new sewerage system of Kalkas and Vasil Levski districts in Pernik. It amounts to nearly 32 MBGN co-financed by Operational Programme Environment and Pernik municipality. 22.6 km of sewage network in the two districts and 4 km collectors were constructed under the project, servicing also the citizens of Tsarkva and Iztok districts.
"The output clearly shows the benefit of being an EU member if one knows how to work. The project is worth 32 MBGN but its cost to the citizens of Pernik is only BGN 200 thousand. That is, with BGN 200 one wins 32 MBGN," pointed out Premier Borisov.

More than 3200 are the newly connected users of the sewage system, including a kindergarten, a rehabilitation and social integration center, a center for temporary accommodation of children at risk. The project covered more than 41 thousand citizens.

"We give high priority to these projects towards achieving higher standard of living for the people and improving the environment. The project was completed on time due to the excellent communication between the Ministry of Environment and Water and Pernik Municipality. With a highly active municipality, we managed to complete also the development of the project for a regional waste management system and are about to sign the contract very soon," noted Minister Karadzhova.
