14 PROJECTS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF WATER SUPPLY AND SEWAGE INFRASTRUCTURE SUBMITTED FOR FUNDING

14 municipalities submitted water infrastructure construction projects for funding under Operational Programme Environment. Submitted proposals are worth almost 600 MBNG.
Nine proposals were submitted under the procedure for municipalities with developed projects - of Provadia, Stamboliyski, Rakovski, Varna, Karlovo, Byala (Ruse), Byala Slatina, Burgas (Gorno Ezerovo) and Burgas (Banevo, Vetren and Burgaski Mineralni Bani). Total allocations of 305 MBGN will flow to these towns for construction of 9 wastewater treatment plants and completion of the sewage and water supply networks.

Galabovo, Kavarna, Primorsko (Kiten), Kyusendil, Sandanski and Stolichna (Sofia City) Municipality submitted project proposals under the procedure for less developed projects. Four wastewater treatment plants will be constructed or modernized in the six towns and the town water supply and sewage networks will be constructed or rehabilitated; the water treatment plant in Kavarna will be equipped with facilities for mechanical sludge dewatering and disinfection of treated water.
Eight contracts worth a total of almost 300 MBGN are concluded under this procedure to date with Radomir, Levski, Razlog, Chirpan, Aitos, Drianovo, Popovo, and Elin Pelin. The contract with Smolyan is pending signing. The projects of Tutrakan, Dulovo, Razgrad, Burgas (Meden Rudnik and Sarafovo neighbourhoods), Nova Zagora, Pazardzhik, Elhovo, Varna (Golden Sands Resort Complex), Balchik (for the town and for Albena Resort Complex), and Ihtiman are in an evaluation procedure.
The project proposals of Tryavna, Stolichna Municipality, Tervel, Kozloduy, Knezha, Pirdop, Sredets, Hissarya, Krichim, Peshtera, Lovech, Montana and Veliki Preslav are in a process of evaluation under the other procedure for municipalities with developed projects.

The projects submitted to date under the two procedures are worth a total of more than 1.6 billion BGN.
