The 8th meeting of the Monitoring Committee of Operational Programme Environment took place on the 15th of June 2010 in Pomorie.
During the meeting the OPE Annual Report for 2009 was adopted at national level by the members of the Committee. The report shall be sent to the European Commission for approval according to the requirements of the EU Regulations. Information about absorption under Priority axis 4 Technical Assistance, as well as an indicative plan for the allocation of the financial resource until the end of the programming period was presented at the meeting. The Monitoring Committee adopted the proposed amendments in the Technical Assistance Strategic Plan for the period 2007 - 2013, supplementing the beneficiaries of the European financing.

The Concept for the management of priority axis 3 was also presented and afterwards adopted by the Monitoring Committee members.

The Head of OPE Managing Authority Malina Kroumova presented the results of the performed screening of water projects. The undertaken corrective measures were welcomed by the European Commission. They include signing of over 130 annexes to the contracts with the beneficiaries, cancellation of contracts not started implementation or withdrawal of financing for projects which need to be significantly revised. The revision is necessary due to noncompliance with the Methodology and approach for project selection under priority axis 1 of Operational Programme Environment 2007 - 2013, as well as due to considerable irregularities in the project implementation.

In April 2010 the Head of DG Regional Policy of the European Commission Dirk Ahner expressed the EC satisfaction and appreciation of the corrective measures regarding water projects. Afterwards certification of payments started again for the investments that meet the principles of the sound financial management.
